Projects
The SOHI District has several major projects under construction at this time. North 27th Street (the 8 block stretch of the SOHI District) has been identified by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the City of Milwaukee to be reconstructed in the near future. Options are currently being reviewed in addition to timelines and more will be announced at a later date.
The SOHI District also has several major planned developments that are also under consideration by SOHI district supporters and the City of Milwaukee. More information on these developments will soon be available.
SOHI Marketing Analysis
This market analysis gives a detailed overview of the district's demographic. Consultant Michael J. Berne has taken it a step further by identifying challenges and opportunities. There is a video series on this presentation at the SOHI District's Youtube Channel.
Programs
The SOHI District has programs for potential and existing business owners, future and current property owners and developers. The SOHI District manager will work closely with you to identify programs that support your vision for economic opportunity in the SOHI District.
SOHI Partnerships
BID #10 - Business Improvement District
1000's across the country are usually a taxing authority used to focus resources directly to a commercial corridor. Bid #10(Avenues West Association) offers programmed funding for facade improvements and provides a host of other support programming for local organizations in the Bid.
NIDC
Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation is an arm of the City of Milwaukee's Department of City Development that may give forgivable and low interest loans to developers for buying in the city.
MEDC
Milwaukee Economic Development Corporation is an arm of the City of Milwaukee's Department of City Development that will give low interest loans for businesses.
SBA
The Small Business Administration is a federally funded business technical assistance group.
UEP
The Urban Entrepeneur Partnership is a city funded business technical assistance group.
WWBIC
Wisconsin's Women Business Initiative Corporation is a privately funded business technical assistance group.
SCORE
Service Corp of Retired Executives is a federally funded counseling agency.
